Introducing Leicester City Primary Heads

Leicester City Primary Heads (CPH) is a self managing organisation with a formal constitution.  All primary school headteachers are considered to be members of City Primary Headteachers.  This includes all schools within the maintained sector with children of primary age.  The overarching aim of CPH is to support the provision of effective and dynamic education in Leicester City.  CPH takes collective responsibility for all the primary children of Leicester City.  It provides a forum for discussion of the views of Primary Headteachers and provides a means by which those views can influence decisions relating to the provision of education in Leicester.  CPH works closely with other partners to ensure effective provision across the city and across the different phases of education.  It work complements and adds to that of the Children and Young People’s Service.

For 2009 - 2010 CPH currently has two co chairs Mark Ingham from Uplands Infants is one and the other is Andrew Marshall from St John's.  The post of Vice Chair is currently occupied by Gillian Blatherwick from Hazel and Trudy Lower from Green lane. Jane ridgewell, immediate past chair attends many meetings on behalf of CPH and is still a member of the officers' group.  CPH employs a full time Strategic Primary Lead Headteacher who represents them at local level.  This is Pam Weston.  Contact her on 0116 2995947 or by e mail pam.weston@leicestercph.org.uk or by post at Alliance House, 6 Bishop St, Leicester. LE1 6AF.

Heads up

Leicester Leaders.

Last Friday’s Leicester Leaders was very busy!  I’m sure Michelle Gwyther will send out overheads.  Brian Cartwright was very informative about the curriculum discussions taking place ready for likely changes in 2014.  He also gave a quick update on Ofsted.

Next Primary Matters 11th June – first Monday after half term.

I hope lots of you have this in your diary and will be at the Soar Valley Training Centre for this.  The agenda will include Amanda Hart and me talking about how the primary behavior continuum will impact on all schools.  We will also talk about the implementation of the Fair Access Policy.  Martin Southam has been invited to discuss school H&S audits which seem to cause a lot of extra work and anxiety for heads.  We will also have other updates and as this is the last meeting of the year I will be taking the opportunity to thank those who have represented CPH throughout the year.
