Dear Pam,
Welcome to Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport's
February News Alert!

Monica's Miles
LRS
exercise their way to the London Olympic Stadium and back TWICE, in
LOROS Fundraiser!
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) staff, partners
and friends and family of Monica Gibbs exceeded expectations and
targets to exercise their way from SportPark to the London Olympic
Stadium and back, TWICE,
more than doubling their original target of 258 miles, with an eventual
527 miles
covered!
'Monica's Miles' was a LOROS fundraiser organised in
memory of Monica Gibbs, employee at LRS who passed away peacefully on
2nd September 2010, aged just 42, following the return of her cancer.

Organised by Monica's work colleagues, the
exercise-clocking fundraiser saw over 40 LRS staff, partners and
friends and family of Monica get focused and competitive to push
themselves to the limit through means of walking, running, cycling and
rowing in and around SportPark.
It is hoped that over £1,500 will be raised for LOROS
from this fundraiser event, an event Monica would have enjoyed
immensely.
As the Marketing & Comms lead at LRS, Monica worked
with great passion and commitment to develop sport and physical
activity across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland. She infected
colleagues with her enthusiasm and vibrant nature and is sorely missed.
Thanks go to SportPark, Loughborough University, British
Cycling, Concept2, Crown Hills Community College, Rushey Mead School
and Soar Media for their support with the event.
