Local Cyclist Lucy Garner becomes Junior World Road Race
Champion!
One of the recipients of the funding through the GO GOLD
scheme includes local cyclist Lucy Garner from Blaby, who
recently became the 2011 Junior World Road Race Champion!
Only in her rookie year, and coming three days after her
17th birthday, Lucy becomes the first British Junior woman to win the
title since Nicole Cooke in 2001.
LRS asked Lucy how it felt winning such a dramatic race:
'It was the most amazing experience of my whole life,
just crazy to think I am World Champion! I was just so shocked and it
didn't sink in at all coming over the finish line. Then all the
emotions just came flooding out.
