Welcome to Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport's
March News Alert!
The Leicester-Shire
& Rutland Parallel Youth Games takes place on
Friday 8th July and is a multi-sport competitive event for young people
with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) aged 8-19 years,
and involves competitions such as Football, Racket Skills, Wheelchair
Basketball, Swimming and much more!
The Leicester-Shire
& Rutland Youth Games takes place the following Sunday
10th July and is open to all young people aged 8-16 years participating
below county standard and includes competitions such as Athletics,
Basketball, Hockey, Tag Rugby, Table Tennis and more, and also
includes two new sports - Gymnastics and Indoor Rowing!

 London 2012 Olympic Schedule and Ticket Prices Announced
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and
Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has announced the complete sports competition
schedule, including ticket prices, for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The schedule contains the full details of 19 days of
sporting competition, including the times and venues for over 640
sessions, across more than 300 events, 39 disciplines, and 26 sports.
It will help you plan your Games experience and make sure you're
prepared when Olympic Games tickets go on sale on 15 March 2011.

Are you being active this week for Women's Week?
To celebrate International Women's Day, Active Together
and Active Rutland are offering women (aged 16+) the opportunity to
attend physical activity sessions across Leicestershire and Rutland for
just £1 (voucher required) from Monday 7th - Sunday 13th March 2011.
Women's activities also regularly take place in Leicester City.

and Recreation Alliance Sports Club Survey
'Help
us save you money!!'
The Sport and Recreation Alliance is surveying sports
clubs to assess their financial health (find out more about the Sport and
Recreation Alliance). Completing this survey will allow the
Alliance (on our behalf) to campaign for reduced rates of VAT for
sports clubs, lower utility rates, alcohol licensing costs, music
licensing costs, drainage charges, Gift Aid, improvements to the CASC
scheme, access to facilities and other important issues for clubs. Only
with good data can we make politicians listen.
The more clubs that complete the survey, the louder our
voice will be. As a thank you, your completed survey will be entered
into a draw to win one of a number of prizes including a session for
your club with an expert who will advise on reducing your bills and
provide money-saving tips, and two tickets to the Wimbledon
Championships!
To take part in the survey, simply click on the link
below and complete the survey as best you can. It will really help if
you have your club accounts to hand (don't worry, all the information
you give will be completely confidential) and you may need to ask other
members for information about the club. You can save your responses and
come back to the survey later if you need to.

 Smile 4 Miles Fun Runs
On the weekend of 19th & 20th March 2011 fun runs
will be taking place across Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland,
raising funds for Comic Relief.
Smiles 4 Miles fun runs are for all ages and abilities
and are fundraising for Red Nose Day. There are a number of events
taking place in areas across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
